Finally, the new Islamabad Airport will operational from 20 April 2018 for international flights and domestic flights and the test flight of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) successfully landed at the new international airport on Saturday.
The test flight PK-9001 was piloted by Captain Bajrani and officers Hamad Khan and Muddasir Mushtaq took from the Benazir International Airport and successfully landed at at New Islamabad Airport. The PIA management decided to exercise of landing a passenger planeAnti-Narcotics Force (ANF), check-in by its staff, crew members, customs, Airport Security Force before the grand opening.
First Flight Successfully landed at New Islamabad Airport
The Benazir International Airport will be transferred to the new Islamabad Airport between April 19 and April 20.

A security official stated that,
The Benazir Bhutto International Airport was a smaller airport, which meant that security management was not so complicated. Considering the new airport is significantly larger, the security detail needs to be much more comprehensive. Given the fact that the location of the airport is also in an area where there have been reports of miscreant activities, security arrangements are not water-tight
