Once again, the HBO TV series show ‘Games of Thrones’ is the most pirated show of the year 2017.
Games of Throne is the most pirated TV show in the world, recently the seventh season of TV show premiered on HBO on July 16, 2017, to August 27, 2017. Every season has 10 episodes, the seventh season has only 7 episodes. George R. R. Martin, David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Bryan Cogman, Jane Espenson, Vanessa Taylor, Dave Hill are the writers of Game of Thrones. The seasons were adopted David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for a TV show.
According to the MUSO, they revealed that Game of Throne’s seventh season more than a billion times pirated. They faced piracy, hacking attempts and leaks many times, now the TV show gained record breaking ratings. Episode 6 was leaked before the official release.
Andy Chatterley, MUSO’s CEO and Co-Founder, stated that,
It’s no secret that HBO has been plagued by security breaches throughout the latest season, which has seen some episodes leak before broadcast and added to unlicensed activity.
These following categories pirate viewership can be broken down,
- Streaming services: 85%
- Torrents: (9%)
- Direct downloads: (6%).
- Private torrent trackers: less than 1%.
Torrent and other direct downloads were contributed only small amount of viewerships.
The episode was pirated around 140 million times, while 32 million views from the legal channels, according to the statistics. MUSO revealed that thousands of websites control the traffic but they did not cover all the traffic. The Game of Thrones has a billion downloads. The Chinese traffic did not calculate in the statistics by the company. Even the Chinese traffic is the most active in piracy.
